About
Yoshie Allan is a Japanese-born, UK-based visual artist.
Her work brings a sense of playfulness and poetry to her geometric and abstract figurative mixed media. She is drawn to organic shapes and the light and shadow found in nature, as well as emotional flow and imaginative connections, which serve as starting points for her work.
Her work has been exhibited in both the UK and Japan, and she continues to engage with audiences through solo and group exhibitions, public art projects, and workshops. Creative connection and communication are key to fuelling her ongoing artistic journey.
Creative Development
Shaped by the natural landscapes of her childhood in Fukushima, a lifelong love of animals, and a hands-on family environment of painting, sewing, and music, her early awareness of drawing as a way
of communicating — before finding words — reflects an early and sustained engagement with creative making.
Yoshie began her career as a freelance illustrator in Tokyo in 2006 and has since developed a mixed-media visual art practice.
